Asia, especially Thailand is a sort after destination, especially when it comes to travelling with kids and also when you have been living in the southern hemisphere.

So, last Christmas break we decided to pack our bags and explore Thailand with my 5-year-old daughter.

If you thought Thailand is all about idyllic surrounding islands, sand and beaches then this blog shall prove you wrong.

Apart from beachlife and island hopping, destinations like Krabi and Phuket has much more to offer to a tourist and i only realised it onvce we started exploring.

We have found secret beaches, unexplored caves, shopped and ate like locals, everthing you need to know for your next family vacay to Thailand is all here on the blog.

So, here it is my top 10 must see places other than islands, which you must ahve in your bucket list ifyour visting Thailand in 2019, which i think you would.

#Lamsing Viewpoint

Perched at a 45 mins drive from the Patong/Karon beach which are the obvious traveller’s choices. This viewpoint is a popular stop on the coast road between Kamala Beach and Surin Beach. The view is worth for a long drive of 45 mins from the Kata beach passing by Patong beach.

There are no dearth of viewpoints in Phuket island and every viewpoint offers a different and a mesmerising view of the Andaman sea and the islands.

Limsingh Viewpoint

#Karon View Point

Located between the  Nai Harn and Kata Noi beaches this place is such a tourist delight and a weekend destination for the locals. The views from here are refreshing and the kids love this place for ample of play are.

Needless to say, this is a much cooler place and a bonus point is you can spot the Big Buddha from here too.

Travel Tip: Did you know that you can get a bike for rent just for $5 /day in Thailand, it’s that cheap to roam around here.

If your someone who loves adventure, this would be a connvenient way to be mobile around the islands.

#Big Buddha, Phuket

The Colossal statue of the Big Buddha is a must visit place in the Phuket island. There are dozens of huge representation of Lord Buddha here, this place is also famous for its sunset points.

A peaceful destination for those who love tranquillity from the crowds and the beach and kids love this place because of among opportunities of exploration.

Travel Tip: This place is just 30-45 mins drove from the Patong beach, there are some amazing eateries along the Patong beach side.

The Big Buddha Phuket, Thailand

#Prompthep Lookout Point

Further ahead when you drive from the Karon point, passing through the curvy roads, you would arrive at the Windmill point, the panoramic views here make it a must-visit stop for the tourist.

If you drive further to the southern tip of the Phuket island, you would reach, what is called as the Prompthep Cape.

Its much cooler up here, which makes it a perfect stopover destination for everyone.

#Temple Market

The love of temples increases when you’re in Thailand, not all Thai temples are same and the more you explore the more you get to know about them.

Travel Tip : The Temple Market is the most sort after place to shop in Phuket, bargain to your heart’s content and don’t forget to grab a glass of Coconut shake at the local eateries which costs just $2

#Rawai Beach

The only beach which I would recommend for families, of your party animal then it would be Patong beach, Kata and Karon beaches are would be a good option to stay too.

Travel Tip: If your travelling as a family I would highly recommend staying near Rawai beach, its way less crowded and the beach is just perfect for kids to play around.

The local beach shacks offer a variety of seafood options and are not crowded too.

# Black rock View & Nui Haat Beach

We started our adventure to the black rock viewpoint, little did we know that our mini adventure would turn into a big surprise in finding a secret beach in Phuket, where only 10 or fewer people visit a day.

Secluded, aloof yet this place is a must see spot with kids, they would love swimming on the beach  and enjoy a cold coconut drink along with some thai lunch on the beach.

Travel Tip : The Nui Haat beach is a secret beach not known by locals too. Isnt that amazing?

Travel to Black rock view point, park your car at the top of the hill and then treak down for 2kms downhill and then you would arrive at this amazing little beach perched at the bottom of the hill.

While treaking up, you can pay the local guy 100 TBH per person to drive you up the hill, this is an experience of its own and you should take a lift up the hill on your return.

#Wat Chalong Temples

The largest and the most visited temples in Thailand are the Wat Chalong Temples in Phuket. There are total 29 temples in one place and each one of them is unique in design and their intrinsic work takes you back to the era of the 18th century.

Wat Chalong Temples are located within 30 mins drive from the Karon beach.

Travel Tip: If you’re visiting any Buddhist Temples in Thailand, make sure to cover your shoulder and wear clothes which are more descend.

#Tiger Cave Temple, Krabi

Tiger cave offers spiritual experience in natural surroundings, if you love temples and architecture, this would be one must visit place in your list if you’re in Thailand.

It takes 30 mins drive from the Krabi town centre to reach this place. There are 1327 steps up to the Temple, which offers amazing panoramic views of the Andaman sea and the Krabi island.

Its hot and humid, so make sure to carry a bottle of water along, monkey sitings is quite normal and make sure not to feed or touch them.

Needless to say , kids would love to explore the steps and the temple surroundings and understand Buddhist culture.

#Diamond Cave & Railey Beach, Krabi

This was our 2nd visit to the Railey Beach and like always we stayed at the Railey beach and the rest half of our holidays we stayed at the Ao Nang beach in Krabi mainland.

Railey beach offers the best nightlife and shopping experience.

Where to see the sunset at Krabi? The answer is Railey beach, there are 2 beaches one is the East and the other one is the West beach.

The West beach offers the famous nightlife and the East Railey beach is more laid back and offers ferry services to the mainland Krabi.

Travel Tip: Want to enjoy swimming at the Diamond cave and the Emerald Pool at Krabi? Visit this place in the morning hours, there’s hardly any crowd. This beach is located at the West Railey, which makes it a perfect spot for an Instagrammy shot!
